Robyn E. Ringgold
President/Publisher

Robyn E. Ringgold made her poetry debut in New Breezes Anthology in 1991 and shortly thereafter successfully published an intimate collection of her poetry entitled Mwangaza - Light from the Earth. Her love and passion for writing and anthropology merged to spawn the creation of Solar Publishing. Robyn has written for several magazines and has more than 15 years of experience in the publishing industry, including layout and design, editing, project conceptualization, development and delivery to the marketplace. Robyn is inspired to create and produce work that expands cultural awareness and is committed to developing opportunities for writers with unique perspectives from often underserved populations.

Partner/Author

Zaccai Free is a multi-talented writer, essayist, poet, playwrite and musician. The founder and editor of Thoughts Magazine has since gone on to collaborate with Robyn Ringgold to produce Irie Sunshine poetry collection, he has authored numerous magazine articles, runs the getnkd blog and is the author of Mbutu's Mangos. Zaccai is committed to eliciting thought from readers and audiences through clear writing, cutting edge ideas and a futuristic vision.

Tahg Daukoru
Consultant

D.Tahg Daukoru is a driven, dynamic personality that originally hails from Nigeria with life experiences spanning three continents. A proverbial 'Jack of all trades', he has fueled his passion for life by working with youths through teaching, mentoring and coaching. He holds a BBA and MBA in Management. He has published several works of poetry and delights in developing new ways to enlighten children with awareness and appreciation for nature. He is an integral member of the team and is dedicated to the collective goals and endeavors of Solar Publishing.


Vidya Vasudevan
Illustrator

Vidya spent her early years in Uganda and moved to Mozambique with her family where she lived until her late teens. She continued her higher studies in India and graduated in English Literature. Cartooning and Illustration had always been her passion and she realized this was the field in which she wanted a future. She worked as a Layout Artist at an Animation company before she joined her husband in the US where she currently resides. She freelances as a Graphic Designer and Illustrator and hopes to write her own children’s book someday.


Helina Metaferia

Helina Metaferia is an Ethiopian-American visual, healing, and community artist who lives and works between Washington, DC and New York City. She shows her paintings regularly in galleries and museums and teaches her passion for art and natural healing modalities to diverse communities. She began creating art since she was a young girl and later majored in Fine Art at Morgan State University. She hopes to use her art to inspire and cultivate growth and development in others.

Binahkaye JOY

Binahkaye Joy, creator of Indigenous Joy Dance, is an artist who embraces the eternal movement of dance to spread love and creative energy to the world. As a mother of movement she is able to interpret the energies of the universe and express them through dance. She believes that we empower each other when we help others realize the power accessed through movement. She works from the understanding that everything living is already dancing. She honors that when we dance together, our capacity to create more movement grows exponentially.

Raised in Washington, DC, Binahkaye began studying dance in 1987. She has worked with dance masters and taught dance around the world, including Ghana, India, Bali, Brooklyn, Post-Katrina New Orleans, and Washington, DC. Her degree in African Diaspora Studies and Dance (College of William & Mary, 2004) enabled her with many opportunities to conduct original research and choreography in the U.S. and abroad. She is currently nurturing the exploration of creativity through movement for students of all ages and completing several books about her dance work around the world. Most recently, Binahkaye has initiated a public space movement project, "Open Space Activation, "OSA Dance", where she dances in public spaces in communities all over the world. Binahkaye is committed to dancing with as many people as possible, reminding us in every way that the dance belongs to all of us!


Dr. Timothy W. Foresman

Dr. Timothy W. Foresman’s distinguished career includes leading advanced technology (remote sensing, GIS, water, energy) for international environmental protection and management. His past positions include director of the United Nations Environment Programme’s Division of Early Warning and Assessment in Nairobi, Kenya and previously NASA Headquarters, where he led the US Digital Earth program. He is a scientist, surfer, professor, popular and science author (over 90 scientific publications), inventor, entrepreneur, consultant, manager, administrator, and world traveler.
